With <keycombo><keycap function="alt">Alt</keycap><mousebutton role="mouse-wheel">mouse wheel</mousebutton></keycombo> over a selected object, Inkscape will conveniently cycle through all objects in the position of the mouse pointer and highlight the selected object for you.

You will see that the dialog has three tabs: Fill, Stroke paint, and Stroke style. The Fill tab lets you edit the fill (interior) of the selected object(s). Using the buttons just below the tab, you can select types of fill, including no fill (the button with the X), flat color fill, as well as linear, radial or mesh gradients and patterns. For the above shape, the flat fill button will be activated.
Vous constatez que la boîte de dialogue a trois onglets : Fond, Contour et Style du contour. L'onglet Fond permet d'éditer le fond (l'intérieur) du ou des objet(s) sélectionné(s) (on parle aussi de remplissage — « fill » en anglais —, mais nous avons choisi une traduction brève pour des contraintes techniques). L'utilisation des boutons juste sous l'onglet vous permet de choisir le type de fond : transparent (aucun fond, le bouton avec un X), aplat (couleur de fond uniforme), ou encore dégradé linéaire ou radial, ou aplat de gradients. Pour la forme ci-dessus, le bouton Aplat devrait être sélectionné.

Alternatively, you can open the Swatches dialog from the <guimenu>View</guimenu> menu (or press <keycombo><keycap function="shift">Shift</keycap><keycap function="control">Ctrl</keycap><keycap>W</keycap></keycombo>), select the palette that you want to use after clicking on the dropdown selector at the top, select an object, and click any swatch to fill the object (change its fill color).
Vous pouvez également ouvrir la boîte de dialogue Palettes depuis le menu <guimenu>Affichage</guimenu> (ou appuyer sur <keycombo><keycap function="shift">Maj</keycap><keycap function="control">Ctrl</keycap><keycap>W</keycap></keycombo>), choisir une palette en cliquant sur le sélecteur en hauà partir du petit triangle dans le coin inférieur droit, sélectionner un objet, et cliquer sur une couleur pour le peindre (donc changer sa couleur de fond).
